Private Lesson | Group Class Programs

Private lessons offer personalized, one-on-one instruction with one of our Trainers. These lessons are customized to meet your needs and training goals for your dog, whether you just want to work on basic obedience or if your dog is struggling with a behavioral problem. Private lessons are offered to take place at our facility in Martinsburg, the farm located on Poorhouse Road in Martinsburg, or in your own home.

Training equipment is purchased separately unless otherwise specified in the case of private lessons or group classes. Independent K-9 LLC offers a 10% discount on training services for military & police (active or retired) and first responders. We also offer discounts for multiple-dog families.

Service Details

In addition to private training, we offer comprehensive packages that combine the benefits of individual attention with the dynamic environment of group classes. These programs are ideal for dogs that thrive in a social setting and for owners who seek a well-rounded training experience. From the Family Dog Private Lesson Program, which combines private lessons with group classes, to our more intensive Behavior Modification program for challenging cases, we have options to suit every need.

We’re also proud to support our community heroes by offering a 10% discount to military, police, and first responders, and we provide discounts for multi-dog families. Our goal is to make top-tier dog training accessible and effective, ensuring that every dog has the opportunity to reach its full potential.

The Family Dog Private Lesson Program

The Family Dog Package is great for people who want or need one-on-one instruction from one of our Trainers but could also benefit from participating in one of our Basic Obedience Group Classes. This package is for dogs that do not have significant behavior problems, and your dog must be under control in order to move on to Group Class. Additional Private Lessons may be added to this program as needed.

Advanced Training - Group Class - 6 Week Session

This program is designed for people who want a more extensive Private Lesson program with the addition of Basic Obedience Group Class. This program is a good option for dogs who are rowdy and may struggle with mild reactivity or lack impulse control in a highly stimulating environment, but don’t quite need Behavior Modification.

Behavior Modification - Our Most Intensive Program

• 8 1-hour Private Lessons • 1 6-week Group Class session • Remote Trainer system • Access to our Wednesday Social Program if appropriate Behavior Modification is our most intensive program, and we work with dogs that exhibit severe behaviors such as fear, reactivity & aggression towards dogs and people, resource guarding, and more. We will discuss with you in detail about the things your dog struggles with and what your goals are with training and build a comprehensive plan from there. We are very successful at overcoming negative behaviors with time and consistent training; however, some dogs may show behaviors that will just be an element of management on a day-to-day basis and any time we are dealing with behavior modification we can't make any guarantees about being able to fully eliminate the dog's negative behavior, but we can teach obedience and management to make it easier to manage the dog and prevent any further incidents from occurring. Purchase of additional training equipment such as a muzzle may be required.
